Black Duck Revival

COVID-19 Procedures

Because of the current exponential rise in COVID-19 cases and the expectation that that trend will continue I’ve decided to institute the following measures.

-I’ve spent the time leading up to waterfowl season building a large,  covered outdoor space that includes a functioning kitchen, fire pit and seating. All cooking will be done by masked chefs and meals will be prepared outside when necessary.

-Communal meals will be enjoyed outside in the new space.

-Guests are only being bunked in private rooms or with the folks they have traveled with. In some instances this means an entire family group will participate in our hunt schools and has private lodging in the Bungalow.

-We will be open field hunting, no hunts from communal blinds and we are asking participants to wear a face covering when not able to socially distance in the field.  Insulated neck gaiters work well in this scenario, keep you warm, and make it harder for the birds to pick you out.

-When in close contact with others we are asking our guests to wear a mask and maintain social distancing guidelines.

-I will be wearing a face covering during hunts and classes. We will still have the same high quality table fare and fantastic meals, but everything will be served on disposable plates, cutlery and cups to keep everyone safe.

-Even when it comes to pictures, our focus will be on individual rather than group shots. So we will stick to travel groups, solo or masked shots.

I understand that these measures will make me an outlier in some aspects of the hunting community right now. However, I very much feel that it is the right and moral thing to do. Yes, I have the same financial concerns that everyone else does at this time, I’m running a small business and every dollar counts.  That point conceded,  I can’t allow that consideration to compromise my values. I need to be able to go home and kiss my wife and children without being afraid that I am exposing them to a dangerous disease or that I have flippantly endangered people that have invested their trust and hard earned money into me as a host. No, it will not always be this way and I cannot wait for that change to come. Black Duck Revival was designed as a space for coming together, for community and for experiential impact. I feel that I would be being an irresponsible member of this community if I didn’t do everything in my power to protect the people who have put trust in me. I’m looking forward to a fantastic waterfowl season here in Arkansas and I’m working hard to make sure that I can offer my guests those experiences without undue risks.
